Transport: from A to B
The BAS World team transports 15,000 objects annually, by road or water. Almost every day, our employees drive to the ports of Rotterdam or Antwerp to ship vehicles. In addition to road transport and shipping, BAS World also takes care of all export and customs-related matters. Depending on the buyer's preferences, they can be fully assisted and relieved of any concerns regarding transport arrangements.
Calculate transport costs
On basworld.com, you will find a transport calculator on every vehicle detail page. Simply fill it out to get an indication of the transport costs. BAS World continuously updates the calculator, which is convenient because the market is constantly changing due to factors such as fluctuating fuel prices. The transport costs depend on the vehicle's condition, type, location, and mode of transport. If the vehicle is exceptional, such as heavy and large machines, the calculator may not be able to calculate the costs. In such cases, please contact our experts, who will be happy to advise you.
Shipping or road transport?
For every vehicle that needs to be transported, the BAS World team considers the best transportation option. It may be more cost-effective to transport a vehicle or machine to Greece by water instead of by road. This, of course, depends on the type of vehicle and its location. In practice, machines are often too large to be transported as a whole, and therefore they often need to be dismantled. This makes (large) machines a customized service that is not included in the transport calculator.
Documents and customs
When a vehicle or machine crosses national borders, the buyer must also deal with export, import, and customs matters. What needs to be arranged exactly depends on the two countries involved: where the vehicle is located and where it needs to go. In consultation with the buyer, BAS World takes care of all export and customs-related matters. We ask the buyer to handle import matters themselves.
Own transport or external transport
BAS World always informs customers about the expected delivery date, delivery address, and type of transport. All logistic movements within a radius of 300 km are carried out by BAS World itself. In practice, this is mainly in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Ruhr area. In addition, BAS World has a global network of external carriers. Each carrier undergoes a DNB check before being added to the network. Therefore, BAS World only works with recognized carriers.
Transport insurance and transit plates
Many people want to cover and exclude risks related to transport. This means that they often choose to take out transport insurance. BAS World offers insurance, but it is also possible to arrange this yourself. We do recommend taking out insurance for road transport. You will receive two proposals from BAS World for transport: one with insurance and one without insurance.
BAS World always uses green trade plates when a vehicle needs to be transported on its own wheels in the Netherlands, Belgium, or Germany. This automatically insures the vehicle. Outside these national borders, it is necessary to purchase an export license plate. This enables the vehicle to be transported to any country.
